Kalklijnen hoek - 1971 shows a Dutch coastal scene with hard edges. Ralston Crawford painted these industrial and landscape subjects with clean colour blocks. The picture reads as flat shapes set against each other, a hard edge painting practice that grew out of American modernist painting.
