King Corpse SFS-288

King Corpse SFS-288 uses open paper as part of the picture. Broad colour washes cover parts of the sheet and leave white ground visible around the painted marks.

The fine art print goes straight onto a nail. The painted areas sit against the bare paper and the contrast keeps the shapes clear. Sam Francis worked with these open grounds and loose paint bands.

A dark frame on a pale wall lets the white ground stay bright beside the painted masses. Hang it above a plain wall near a window at eye level so daylight reads the light tones and leaves the bare paper visible.
