Laissée — Fine Art

Laissée - 1995 by Simon Hantai works with folded canvas and torn openings that reveal the ground underneath. The technique builds colour through layers of paint pulled apart and pressed back together.

The fine art print goes straight onto a nail. The surface carries folds and breaks along the painted field. You see the cloth move under the pigment.

A white frame gives the image a clean edge against the paint and cloth. The white finish keeps the torn sections from blending into the wall. It fits on a study wall where you notice the folds first and the openings second.
