About this work
Linienrhythmus - 1919 holds thin black lines set across a pale paper ground. The lines follow each other in a steady way, with small gaps between them. Johannes Itten worked with this kind of rhythmic line drawing during his Bauhaus years.
This fine art print sits inside a frame with a white or wood finish. The frame gives the picture a clear edge on the wall and keeps the thin lines from meeting the surrounding paint or plaster.
It suits a kitchen wall where morning light comes in sideways. You notice the parallel lines first, then the small pencil marks near the edges when you stand by the counter.
