About this work
Lithographie No. 22 - 1969 by Pierre Soulages sets down dark ink on a pale sheet, with strokes that sit in uneven layers and leave small gaps between them. The drawing moves from a solid line toward a thinner end, so the pattern feels built rather than painted.
The fine art print comes ready to hang. The print sits on a matte sheet, so the dark marks stay flat under a lamp and the pale ground does not reflect. A light frame on a dark wall lets the ink lines stand apart, while a wood frame beside wooden furniture links the sheet to the room.
It works on the wall beside a desk turned away from the street, where the desk lamp throws a small circle of light onto the strokes.
