Manet III — Fine Art

Manet III by Sam Gilliam keeps the eye moving across the sheet with bands of colour that shift in tone. The shapes run side by side, and the spaces between them stay open. The composition leaves room for the eye to rest between the bands.

This fine art print uses paper with a flat matte finish, so the colour stays even and there is no shine under a lamp. The frame finish can follow the room, a light frame on a dark wall or a wood frame beside wooden furniture.

It works on a pale wall in a dining room, hung at shoulder height. From the table you notice the colour bands and the open gaps between them.
