About this work
Maneuver for Position - 1947 shows a pale ground with a few dark lines that search for a place to rest. The paint is thin and the lines do not sit still. They drift and cross each other in a quiet way. Bradley Walker Tomlin worked in this way during the mid twentieth century abstract period.
This is a fine art print set in a frame with a back panel. The matte surface keeps the grey tones from shining under a lamp. You can see the small brush strokes when you stand near it.
It fits above a desk in a study. The desk faces the window and the grey lines read as a steady shape against the pale paper. The frame gives it weight on the wall.
