About this work
Movement I 1935 uses a small set of colours placed against each other so the eye stays on the marks. A warm red shape meets a cool blue one, and a thin yellow line crosses the space between them. Wassily Kandinsky kept the ground calm so the coloured forms do what they do.
The fine art print sits on a wall where daylight falls across it during the day. A light frame on a darker wall lets the red and blue shapes read without extra shine. From a short distance the yellow line feels separate from the larger forms.
It fits above a desk in a study, where a chair turns toward the wall. You see the blue form first, then the yellow line, then the calm space around them.
