About this work
Murnau View with Railway and Castle 1909 shows a slope of houses and a castle sitting on a hillside. A rail track runs across the lower part of the scene. Wassily Kandinsky painted the façades in blue and rose tones, with dark window patches and a few sharp roof lines.
This fine art print is printed on matte paper, so the blue and rose do not shine under a lamp. You can set the frame finish to match the room, a light frame on a dark wall or a wood frame beside wooden furniture.
It hangs on a bedroom wall above the bed, where the morning light catches the rail line and the roof shapes. From the foot of the bed you see the castle on the hill, and the blue house patches stay clear.
