About this work
Coloured squares sit in rows across a grid in My Oneness, A Universe of Colours - 1957. Alfred Jensen builds the field from small numbered paint squares, one colour next to another. The rows shift tone from one band to the next. Strong blues, reds and yellows hold their place against the softer squares nearby.
The matte fine art print keeps the painted grid quiet under indoor light. A dark frame sits on a pale wall and lets each colour stay separate. A light frame on a deeper wall gives the painted numbers a steadier look.
It fits a kitchen wall above the counter. You notice the small painted numbers at cooking height, while the colour rows settle lower on the plaster.
