About this work

Neapolitan Cupcakes

Neapolitan Cupcakes - 2008 shows three round cakes set against a plain ground. Cream, strawberry pink and chocolate brown sit beside each other. Wayne Thiebaud paints each one with a thick edge where the frosting folds over. The colours stay soft, the shapes stay simple. The cake tops look frosted and heavy.

This fine art print is ready to hang on arrival. The print arrives ready to hang. A metal hanger sits on the back and goes straight onto a nail or screw. You do not need to find a frame for this picture.

It fits on a wall in a dining room. You see the three cupcake shapes from the table. Near the light the colours look soft, the pink turns to a pink cream, the brown stays warm. The paint marks show most from there.
