About this work
November 1963 III - 1963 shows the hand of Edward Corbett in broad painted strokes. The marks move across the surface with pressure and speed, leaving edges that are not even. The colour sits in layers that the eye reads as separate passes. This is a fine art print of that painted surface.
The paper is matte, so the paint tones stay flat and do not shine. A light frame on a dark wall keeps the painted marks open. The frame finish can follow the room, a dark frame on a pale wall or a wood frame beside wooden furniture.
It hangs on a bookshelf wall in a study, where you notice the stroke edges from the desk. The painted layers hold their own space, and the matte surface does not reflect the lamp.
