About this work
A few dark lines drift across a pale field in Number 1 - 1952. The lines are thin and uneven, drawn in a slow hand. The artist worked in a quiet abstract style, leaving empty space around the marks. You see more grey than black, and the marks do not fill the sheet.
A fine art print with a matte surface keeps the greys flat and soft. The frame finish can match the room, a pale frame on a dark wall or a wood frame beside wooden furniture. The print hangs at a steady height on a plain wall.
It fits above a desk in a study. From the doorway the dark lines read as a quiet band. Up close the thin strokes show the hand of Bradley Walker Tomlin.
