About this work
Number 3 - 1950 shows a group of painted strokes moving across the sheet. Bradley Walker Tomlin often worked with thin lines and a quiet field of colour. The strokes here sit near one side and leave a large plain area open. The lines seem to move at a steady pace, one after another.
This fine art print uses a matte paper so the greys and pale tones stay flat and do not shine under a lamp. A thin frame can follow the room, a light frame on a darker wall or a dark frame on a pale one.
It fits a study wall above a desk, where you notice the drawn lines while working. From the desk you see the quiet field of colour, and the small marks stay clear without crowding the space.
