Ocean Park #54 — Fine Art

Ocean Park #54 by Richard Diebenkorn shows stacked colour planes laid over a quiet field. Thin drawn lines cross the painted surface, breaking up the blocks and giving the picture its structure. The work belongs to the abstract painting practice of the artist, where colour and line work side by side.

The fine art print comes with a white frame that gives the picture a clean edge on the wall. The white finish keeps the pale tones clear and stops the drawn lines from disappearing against the surface.

In a bedroom, the pale planes sit above the bed and hold the eye without crowding the space. From the doorway the big colour blocks read first, and the thin lines come into view when you stand nearer.
