About this work
On A Shaker Theme Number Two Precisionism presents rows of plain doors and windows placed against a steady ground. The picture uses measured outlines and flat colour to show the quiet order of Shaker buildings. Charles Sheeler repeated this subject across his paintings and photographs, looking for clean structure and no extra detail.
The fine art frame gives this image a clear border on the wall. Choose white for a bright line, wood for a warm edge, dark wood for a deeper outline, or black for a sharp contrast.
Place it on a hallway wall where you pass in the morning light. The repeated doors and windows fill the space without crowding it, and you notice the straight lines most when you stand still and look at the door flat against the paint.
