Palazzo Dario

Palazzo Dario opens on a narrow Venice canal with tall buildings turning into water. Claude Monet used short strokes of blue and green to catch the light on the stone and the shallow water.

The fine art frame gives the picture a clean edge on the wall. A white finish keeps the bright water tones clear and stops the edge from pulling the eye away from the building shapes.

In a hallway with a door at one end, the canal line leads the eye toward the light. You see the blue water first, then the building shapes behind it.
