About this work
Paradise - 1979 by Albert Irvin shows broad colour shapes set across the sheet. The artist worked with acrylic and gouache, letting the paint sit on the surface in loose areas. The marks are uneven and the edges are not hard. The picture belongs to post war abstract painting.
The fine art print comes ready to hang. The paper is matte, so the paint colours stay flat and do not reflect light from a lamp. The frame finish can follow the room. A light frame sits on a dark wall, a dark frame on a pale wall, or a wood frame beside wooden furniture.
On the landing wall near the top step the shapes read from a distance. Under the stair light the small brush marks become visible. The piece stays there above the radiator each day.
