About this work
Pines of Rayol 1912 shows rows of tall trees rising over a flat landscape. Theo van Rysselberghe painted in a pointillist style, laying small dots of colour over the paper to build the forms.
The fine art print comes ready to hang. The greens and blues sit close together and mix in the eye rather than on the surface. The picture fits with the pointillist painting practice the artist used in his landscapes.
A white frame gives the picture a clean edge and leaves the tree lines open to the room. The frame sits flat against the wall and the dots stay soft at a distance. In a reading corner the pines hold the space and the light greys stay quiet under a lamp.
