Pineta of Calvi Corsica — Fine Art

Pine trunks rise in rows across the page in Pineta of Calvi Corsica. The drawing uses measured black ink lines on a pale sheet, a method MC Escher used for many landscape studies. Trees lean slightly and the ground runs flat under them.

The object is a fine art print set in a frame with a back panel. The matte surface keeps the dark ink from shining under a lamp, so the tree trunks read as drawn shapes rather than colour.

A hallway wall works well for this print. From the bend in the corridor you notice the repeating trunks first, and the long line of trees carries the eye down the passage.
