About this work
Popox - 1964 sets dots and small colour marks across a plain field. The eye enters near the centre, then drifts to the darker mass on the right. Empty space keeps the marks from crowding. Hiroyuki Tajima worked with this kind of handled dot work and separate stroke practice throughout his career.
The fine art print goes straight onto a nail. The white frame gives this picture a clean edge on the wall. Against the soft field, the white edge keeps the dots from fading into the background. You can choose wood, dark wood or black if you want a different line against the same image.
On a kitchen wall above the kettle, you notice the dots first, then the white edge near the tiles. From the breakfast table the dots sit steady and the empty field stays quiet.
