Portrait of Ralph Dusenberry — Fine Art

Portrait of Ralph Dusenberry - 1924 by Arthur Dove uses the painter practice of turning a face into small colour shapes. The image keeps the head plain and lets the forms sit close together. A clear outline around the eyes and mouth sets them apart from the rest of the picture.

This fine art print is ready to hang on arrival. The frame finish can follow the room, a light finish on a dark wall or a wood finish beside wooden furniture. You can see the finish choice in the way it settles with the room rather than against it.

It works well above a bed in a small bedroom with a single lamp near the corner. From the foot of the bed the painted shapes stay calm, and the plain ground keeps the face clear.
