Postcard — Fine Art

Postcard 1968 by Dieter Roth shows a small card set against a soft ground. The picture carries a plain rectangle with thin lines along the edges and a few smudged marks near the center. The work reads like a everyday object turned into a painting.

This fine art print uses a matte paper, so the grey tones stay even and the faint pencil lines do not glare under a lamp. A light frame works on a darker wall, or a wood frame sits beside wooden furniture.

It hangs on the stairwell wall just past the landing. From the bottom step you notice the rectangle shape first, then the small marks when you pass the first turn.
