About this work
Red Plastic - 1961 shows a red sheet lying over a torn or burned patch on the picture surface. The paint sits in thin layers that catch the light in different spots. Alberto Burri often worked with plastic, cloth and fire on his canvases.
You get the fine art print with a hanger already on the back. The white frame gives the picture a clear edge on the wall. On the red plastic print the white line keeps the soft red tones separate from the room around it.
In a kitchen the red sheet holds its own against the pale tile. From the table you see the torn edge, and the black patch reads as a dark shape inside the red field.
