Sea of Grass — Fine Art

Sea of Grass - 1983 shows a wide field of horizontal strokes laid down in a loose pattern. The marks run left to right with gaps between them. Jimmy Ernst often worked in this abstract way, letting chance guide the lines.

This is a fine art print set in a frame with a back panel. The matte paper keeps the lighter strokes from shining under a lamp. The frame holds the sheet flat and the back panel covers the rear so the print sits ready on a wall.

On a bedroom wall near the window the horizontal lines read as a long band. From the door you see the open gaps between the strokes. Up close the paper texture shows the way the ink sits on the surface.
