Sicile Agrigente — Fine Art

Sicile Agrigente - 1953 shows broad painted strokes across the sheet. Blocks of land and sea sit in heavy colour patches.

The surface holds a rough painterly rhythm from the brushwork of Nicolas de Stael. A fine art print set in a frame with a back panel keeps the painted blocks clear and the darker tones from washing out.

The matte paper holds the thick paint look without a glossy shine. On a bedroom wall near the headboard the big shapes fill the view from the bed. The small shifts in tone come into focus when you stand a little closer.
