About this work
A washed-out word band sits low on the sheet, built from faint letters and a soft shadow. Smells Like Back of Old Hot Radio 1976 reads as a faded sign pulled from a late-night street. Edward Ruscha lets the text sit there without winning the eye.
The fine art frame keeps the sheet in a clean line on the wall. A black frame leaves the pale ground open and lets the ghostly letters sit without a hard border pulling them apart.
It works on a shelf wall in a bedroom, where the light falls even and the paper stays soft. From the foot of the bed you catch the word band, then the small fade inside each letter. The room stays calm and the sheet reads as one quiet mark.
