About this work

Sommitelma

Sommitelma - 1967 brings a quiet field of shape and tone to the wall. The image sits on a soft ground with marks laid out in a calm order. You see the working method of Tove Jansson in the measured way the forms read from a distance.

The fine art print uses a matte paper that holds the gentle grey tones without shine. A light frame on a dark wall, a dark frame on a pale wall, or a wood frame beside wooden furniture can follow the room you choose.

On a kitchen wall near the table, the shapes stay clear at arm length. From the doorway you read the broad field, and in the morning light the small tone shifts stay soft.
