Twelve vertical bands of color stack edge-to-edge. This is Ellsworth Kelly’s Spectrum IV.
Each band is a single, flat hue—lemon, tangerine, scarlet, magenta, violet, cobalt, teal, lime, olive, ochre, sienna, charcoal. They meet without overlap, without gradation, without shadow. The sequence feels deliberate yet not quite spectral, as if the artist nudged the wheel just off its natural order.
Hang it above a low credenza or between two windows; the colors will pull daylight into the room without shouting.
