About this work
A thick black curve bends inward on the page, with a thinner white line running beside it. Spiral 1970 follows that coiled path across the sheet. The shape reads as a flat drawing of movement rather than a solid object.
The fine art print comes ready to hang. Alexander Calder built many of his sculptures around that same idea of a line turning back on itself. You can see the turn from the far end of the hall, and the edge of the curve up close. The paper is matte, so the white line stays clean under a lamp.
A metal hanger is fitted to the back and goes straight onto a nail. You do not need a separate frame. It fits a narrow wall in the hallway, where the curve meets the corner and the white line stays sharp.
