About this work
Sprayed Picture - 1965 turns a sprayed field of paint into a flat ground with soft edges. The work sits inside Charlotte Posenenske practice of concrete painting, where sprayed layers replace brush strokes.
The product is a fine art print set in a frame with a back panel. A fine art print on matte paper keeps the sprayed pigment from catching a hard glare under a lamp. The frame and back panel keep the sheet flat on the wall.
Hang it in a hallway where the light stays even through the day. From the end of the corridor you read one flat field of colour, and in the middle aisle you notice the soft edge where the spray fades. The wall stays plain and the picture does most of the work.
