Still Life with Flower Holder — Fine Art

A flower holder stands as the main subject in Still Life with Flower Holder by Paul Cézanne. The work belongs to a late nineteenth century post impressionist painting tradition. He built the flowers with separate small strokes of paint. The vase and stems sit against a plain ground.

The print uses fine art paper with a matte finish so the paint strokes stay soft and do not shine under a lamp. A dark frame on a pale wall makes the flower holder stand out. The frame finish follows the room you choose.

On a hallway wall beside a timber chair you notice the vase shape and the pale flowers first. From the stair landing you see the whole picture without detail. Up close the small marks show their individual edges.
