Still Life with Oranges and Lemons with Blue Gloves — Fine Art

Still Life with Oranges and Lemons with Blue Gloves places round fruit beside a pair of blue gloves on a table. The paint follows the Dutch post impressionist period, with short strokes laid beside one another. Greens and oranges stand out against a darker ground.

The fine art paper carries a matte finish, so the painted strokes do not shine under a lamp and the colours stay steady on the wall. A light frame keeps the piece on a dark wall, or a dark frame suits a pale wall better.

On a kitchen wall near the sink you notice the blue gloves first, then the orange shapes above the counter. Morning light from the side makes the painted strokes clearer without glare on the surface.
