Still Life with Oranges — Fine Art

Clear glass bowls hold bright orange fruit on a plain table in Still Life with Oranges.

Paul Cézanne stacks the fruit with a steady hand and covers the surface in short patches of paint. The round fruit and the bowl edges carry the eye across the picture.

From the far side of a kitchen you notice the warm fruit against the cooler ground, and the separate paint strokes stay clear as you move closer. The fine art frame gives the picture a clear edge on the wall, and the white finish keeps the fruit colours readable without a heavy border.
