About this work
Struggle - 1967 by Robert Goodnough shows painted bands and marks spread over a plain ground. The colours sit in layers, and the eye moves from one shape to the next. The work belongs to the post war abstract painting period, where broad painted areas and drawn notes were common.
This is a fine art print set in a frame with a back panel. The print keeps the painted look without the shine that can come from glossy paper. If you choose the ready to hang option, it arrives assembled and you can place it straight away.
It sits on a bedroom wall above the bed, where the painted bands soften the plain surface. From the doorway the shapes read as blocks of tone, and from the bedside you notice the drawn marks over the paint.
