Stump — Fine Art

Stump - 2000 shows a standing tree trunk at the centre of the field. The paint sits in thin bands of green, grey and brown that run across the surface. Empty space sits on both sides of the trunk. The eye enters at the trunk and moves out to the bands.

The frame finish can follow the room: a light frame on a dark wall, a dark frame on a pale wall, or a wood frame beside wooden furniture. This fine art print on matte paper keeps the bands from shining under a lamp.

It works on the end wall of a hallway. From the stair you see the trunk and the bands, and the empty space lets the wood trim carry the room.
