Summer Scroll #8 Five Kinds of Hydra Trees

Long horizontal bands of dark green and brown run the full length of the sheet. Five separate tree trunks stand side by side with narrow drawn lines between them. Summer Scroll #8 Five Kinds of Hydra Trees - 1986 keeps its marks quiet and even.

The artist Brice Marden worked in beeswax and pigment for many years. This fine art print sits in a frame with a back panel. The matte surface lets the green bands stay soft and stops shine.

You can hang it straight on a plaster wall in a reading corner. From the doorway the long shapes read as one band. Up close the pencil lines show as small breaks.
