About this work

Sunball

Sunball - 1960 opens on painted colour bands that step across the sheet in one direction. The bands hold one steady hue each and move in a single horizontal run.

You get the fine art print with a hanger already on the back. Gene Davis built this kind of stripe work over many years. The paper is matte so the flat tones stay even without shine.

A metal hanger sits on the back and goes straight onto a nail. It suits a reading corner where the steady bands draw the eye along the shelf.
