Synchromy — Fine Art

Synchromy - 1916 by Morgan Russell uses strong curved bands of paint that roll across the picture. The colours are built from layered strokes laid one over another. Each band meets the next with a soft join, so the movement stays steady across the whole surface.

A fine art print of the picture keeps the painted bands easy to read on the paper you choose. The frame can follow the room, so a wood frame sits beside wooden furniture or a light frame sits on a dark wall.

The print works well in a hallway where the light comes from one side. You notice the curved bands first, then the joins between the colours.
