About this work
Synchromy No. 6 - 1914 shows bands of colour that move across the picture. The bands curve and overlap, with warm reds and oranges meeting cool blues. The marks feel like motion caught in paint. Morgan Russell built this kind of colour plane painting to show movement in a new way.
This fine art print goes up on the wall fast. The metal hanger on the back fits onto a nail or screw, with no frame to buy. The paper stays matte so the colour bands keep their soft edges and the surface does not shine under a lamp.
Above the dining table, the curved bands draw the eye along the wall. From the doorway the big shapes read first, and closer up the joins between colours become clear.
