About this work
Terre assoiffée I - 1966 shows a dry ground under a hot sky.
Alfred Manessier worked with thick paint and rough marks, the way he often did after the war. The surface feels worked over, with layers built up and scraped back.
The fine art print keeps those layers visible on matte paper, so the paint-like marks stay soft and the paper does not shine under a lamp. It fits a kitchen wall near the range, where the warm tones sit above the counter and the worn ground reads close up.
