About this work

The 2Nd Day of the Creation

The 2Nd Day of the Creation shows a measured study of light and dark, built from thin black lines on a pale sheet.

MC Escher set the marks to suggest a second day of making. From the doorway the lines hold their order, and in the room you can see each stroke as a steady line against the ground.

The piece arrives as a fine art print set in a frame with a back panel, so the pale ground stays even and the dark lines stay sharp. It sits well on the dining room wall over a narrow side table, where the light from the window keeps the line work even without a strong shine.

Frequently asked

Yes — this Fine Art piece comes framed and arrives ready to hang. It is printed with our 12-color fine art technology on smooth matte paper (200 gsm), protected by shatterproof plexiglass, and set in a durable pine wood frame. A hanging kit is included, so you can put it straight on the wall.
Our 12-color fine art printing technology delivers vivid, accurate colors with real depth, far beyond standard 4-color inkjet printing. The print is on smooth matte paper (200 gsm, 0.26 mm thick) that gives a clean, glare-free display, and it sits behind shatterproof plexiglass in a durable pine wood frame (20 mm thick, 10 to 14 mm wide). The paper and wood are FSC-certified. Every piece is printed and shipped on demand, so there is no minimum order and every order is fresh.
