The Blooming Mountain

The Blooming Mountain shows a hill form built from ink washes on paper. Wu Guanzhong works in a style that mixes Chinese ink painting with abstract expressionist marks. The hill rises from a soft grey ground. Darker strokes gather near the top while the lower part stays open and light.

You get the fine art print with a hanger already on the back. The frame in white gives this image a clean edge on the wall. White keeps the grey washes readable and the black ink lines stay sharp against it.

It hangs on a kitchen wall above the counter. From the cookspace you notice the broad hill shape first, then the thin ink lines near the top. The white frame edge cuts the picture off from the tiles behind it.
