About this work
A row of leafy stems climbs toward the top of The Botanical Garden 1910. Raoul Dufy blocks the plants in flat greens and warm browns, leaving the lower ground open. The eye stops at the tallest shoot before settling on the empty space below.
The fine art sheet carries a matte surface, so the green tones stay muted instead of shining under a lamp. A light frame on a dark wall would let the painted leaves stand apart, and a wood frame beside wooden furniture would keep the same plain tone.
It sits on the wall over a reading desk in a bedroom, where the morning light hits the leaf marks and the lower empty band stays clear. You read the tallest stem first, then the rest of the sheet below it.
