About this work
A floating stone tower rests on thin clouds in The Castle of the Pyrenees 1959. The tower stands clear against a plain sky, painted in cool blues and greys. The image follows the surrealist painting practice of Rene Magritte, placing a solid object where it should not be.
This fine art print arrives ready to hang, with a metal hanger fitted to the back. The hanger goes straight onto a nail or screw. The paper has a matte surface, so the blue sky stays even and there is no shine under a lamp.
It suits a hallway wall above a narrow bench. From the stairwell you see the tower shape first, and the painted clouds fill the upper part of the wall.
