About this work

The Chateau de Medan

The Chateau de Medan shows a country house set behind trees and a low sky. The building is painted with broad colour patches rather than smooth lines.

Paul Cézanne built the scene with separate strokes that let the surface stay visible. Green and grey tones sit side by side across the picture. The fine art print sits in a frame with a back panel and arrives assembled when the ready to hang option is used.

The matte paper keeps the paint marks from turning glossy under a lamp. The house image reads well on a landing wall beside a coat rack. From the bottom step the big blocks read first, while the ceiling light warms the pale sky area.
