The Five Continents

The title refers to the five continents, shown as open colour pools set against a wide white field. Sam Francis lets thin paint spread with soft edges and leaves some areas bare.

The fine art print goes straight onto a nail. The picture belongs to colour field painting and shows his wider study of open washes on white ground. The print arrives ready to hang with a metal hanger fitted to the back that goes straight onto a nail or screw.

No separate frame is needed. You can put it in a reading corner where the open white space lets the colour pools stay visible and the soft edges do not glare under a lamp.

Information

Frequently asked

Yes — this Fine Art piece comes framed and arrives ready to hang. It is printed with our 12-color fine art technology on smooth matte paper (200 gsm), protected by shatterproof plexiglass, and set in a durable pine wood frame. A hanging kit is included, so you can put it straight on the wall.

Our 12-color fine art printing technology delivers vivid, accurate colors with real depth, far beyond standard 4-color inkjet printing. The print is on smooth matte paper (200 gsm, 0.26 mm thick) that gives a clean, glare-free display, and it sits behind shatterproof plexiglass in a durable pine wood frame (20 mm thick, 10 to 14 mm wide). The paper and wood are FSC-certified. Every piece is printed and shipped on demand, so there is no minimum order and every order is fresh.
