About this work
The Glass Key 1959 shows a painted field where a cool upper tone meets a warmer lower band. A few solid forms sit low against the calm surface. Rene Magritte built this in a surrealist painting practice that keeps objects plain and outlined. The colours sit quiet one over the other without blending hard at the edge.
You get the fine art print with a hanger already on the back. The paper takes light evenly, so the cool areas stay soft and the lower band reads flat.
From the dining table you see the solid forms low on the wall and the flat band above them. The cool area stays still under the ceiling light.
