The hat makes the man

A hat sits on a stack of papers in The hat makes the man, drawn with careful pencil lines. Max Ernst used this kind of mark to build a quiet figure from ordinary things.

This fine art print is ready to hang on arrival. The paper holds the grey strokes without shine. The print arrives ready to hang, with a metal hanger on the back that goes straight onto a nail.

You can put it up without a separate frame. It fits on a narrow kitchen wall above the kettle, where the drawn hat reads clearly from the table.
