About this work
The Light and So Much Else 1931 opens with clear shapes resting on a soft ground. Paul Klee builds the picture from flat colour patches and thin drawn lines. From across the hall the painted blocks read as a quiet arrangement. Closer up the pencil marks and small colour steps show the hand behind the work.
This is a fine art print set in a frame with a back panel. The matte surface keeps the grey and blue tones flat, with no shine under a lamp. The frame holds the sheet steady on the wall.
It sits on the living room wall above the bookshelf. From the doorway the large shapes stay legible, and the smaller marks stay hidden. You notice the blue band first, then the thin black strokes crossing it.
